In early 2016 Bill Tingate passed away after a short battle with brain cancer. Our family was shocked at how quickly he declined after his initial diagnosis, surgery and radiation treatment. Sadly, we discovered that this is not uncommon. The short-term survival rate of this poorly funded, aggressive disease is extremely low and has barely improved in 30 years.
Bill was a dedicated family man, an insatiable walker and an active contributor to many community based organisations. He inspired everyone to chase their dreams, work hard, care for others, explore the world and be active. From Jells Park in south-east Melbourne to Everest Base Camp he was an unstoppable walker.
Bill embraced the rich diversity of the world and challenged all to question and explore everything, with integrity, humour and compassion. Bill was not a spectator of life, he always played an active part in anything he did. He made a significant contribution to many community organisations. He did this without expectation of personal reward, except for the joy that he got in giving and sharing of his friendship, time, expertise and experience.
In his memory and as a legacy to his community spirit, we have established the Bill Tingate Brain Cancer Foundation. We want to investigate ways we can make a difference and improve brain cancer patient outcomes. To do this we need your help and support.

Registered Charity
The Foundation is an incorporated not-for-profit association and has been registered by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission as a health promotion charity.

Our goal is to raise funds
To purchase diagnostic and treatment equipment for hospitals and medical centres caring for brain cancer patients, and support research into finding a brain cancer cure.

'Kick In' is Australian slang meaning to contribute to something. Help us to find a cure for brain cancer by kicking in to our cause and supporting our events.

The Foundation's logo is a graphical representation of the brain. The colours representing the many aspects of Bill Tingate's life and the grey, brain cancer support.

Our current campaign target is to support The Alfred Foundation by raising $40,000 for critically needed neurosurgery equipment and research to support brain cancer patients.
